Lewis and Clark are the first thing that jumps into my mind when I think of cartography. Their epic expedition holds plenty of inspiration. Once I had an idea of my theme, I got to sketching\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 480 \/ 480;\" width=\"480\" controls src=\"https:\/\/homeoncemoreart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/trim.34D68F2A-2F87-4C1D-8421-259280218299.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I like to test my layout on this <a href=\"https:\/\/bardotbrush.com\/repeat\/\">repeating pattern tester website<\/a>. That lets me see where the awkward blank spots are or where the repeat is too blocky and obvious. After adjusting placement a smidge, I started drawing the elements\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 480 \/ 480;\" width=\"480\" controls poster=\"https:\/\/homeoncemoreart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/CF4C651F-EF27-488B-92CF-3ACEE3026830.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/homeoncemoreart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/trim.1E35EB08-313E-41AA-AB2F-BE3DD27D8A36.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wanting the design to have an antique feel, I added texture and faded the colors a smidge near the end. I like the overall feel of the design, though we\u2019ll have to wait to see what the voters think of it. It\u2019s a rollercoaster every week. The public whims swing wildly! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">As a wildcard, I whipped up a quick topographical map pattern, but I decided not to enter it in the challenge.
