My entry for the this week’s Victorian-Era Florals Spoonflower Challenge. I love a floral challenge, as it gives me an excuse to pull out the watercolors. I spent one afternoon looking up the Victorian Flower Language, picking, and painting flowers I thought were lovely. Side note: why don’t we all learn the language of flowers again and send people floral love messages?! This is the chart I used for reference:
Watercolor Finished!
I chose 10 flowers to feature and painted little shelves for them. I wanted to have a victorian greenhouse feel. There’s a scene in one of the newest adaptations of Emma where she is starting seeds in her greenhouse. It’s picturesque. Anyone know that scene?
Next came the process of turning the paintings into a repeating pattern on Procreate. Deleting the background of the individual items is the most time consuming. This pattern took 5 hours.
Time-Lapse
As usual, if you’d like to vote for me, heres the link. Remember to scroll all the way to the bottom of the entries, or they wont count your vote!
Results
Well, I ranked 550 out of about 1050 entries. Apparently, I’m still in the early process of learning. But it’s fun!
