Process
I started out uninspired for this challenge. But I am always surprised how inspiration flows when I simply dive in and start sketching. I drew peregrine falcons for a previous challenge, so I started with my old drawings. I simplified the shape immensely until it still read “Falcon” but had almost no detail. This was a stretch for me, because I tend to over-illustrate! Then, I started doodling what I thought the air currents around the birds might look like. I really liked my plain grey version, but I knew it wouldn’t catch the eyes of voters enough for a challenge. I will upload all my color versions for customers, but hopefully my pastel version will be eye-catching! You’ll get a glimpse of the neutral version in this video below.
