Design Process
Finishing off the tea towel/Wallhanging spree that Spoonflower has been on is this week’s challenge to use a Pantone color palette to design a tea towel. Here we go again! The palette was dictated to us, and the brief stated that designs should reflect an intangible light or metallic quality. Kind of nebulous.
I was at a loss until I was inspired by my nephew’s t-shirt while visiting with my brother’s family this weekend. It had a cool graphic with a hand. You just never know where inspiration is going to come from.
The basic design plan was simple. Take a picture of my daughter’s hand making the “I love you” sign and digitally drape ribbons over it. Making digital ribbons was a little tricky. The design took 2 hours, and most of it was spent trying to get that “intangible” glowy light on the hand and ribbons. It’s probably not obvious enough for the voters to grasp, but I like it! Here’s a Timelapse of the process…

The entries will be viewed on tea towel this week. (Spoonflower doesn’t just sell fabric…they also sell products like towels, curtains, bedding, etc…) Like this…
