I’m pretty excited about this week’s Unexpected Still Life Design Challenge for Spoonflower. Everything came together so well for this design. I had no idea what I was going to do for this challenge. Still life is not my favorite subject matter. The twist of ”unexpected” made it a little more interesting, but still. Yet as I was scrolling pictures of still life photography, inspiration struck. Someone had used ice cream cones as succulent planters. Genius! The color scheme was inspired from as old ice cream shop awning, and after that, the creative process was smooth. I also experimented with “painting” in my Procreate design app. Some of their brushes mimic wet paint really well. You can actually ”push” the “paint” around on the canvas. Colors blends. It’s lovely. AND significantly less messy than pulling out my paints.
