Process
…and what a process! 8.5 hours total. I had a vision in my head for the French Country Table Linens Challenge. I wanted to capture a scene in the French countryside, in a loose, watercolor-y manner. My first attempt fell short of what I saw in my head. My second attempt is closer, though still not as wow-factor as I’d imagined. But I ran out of time! I submitted my design 15 minutes prior to the deadline. Cutting it a little close!
First Attempt Timelapse…
Can you see why I didn’t go with this one? Someone here thought it looked like seashells. I just couldn’t convey the “message” of stone paths and bridges around fields and vineyards. It wasn’t working.
Second Attempt Timelapse…
The lavender fields and the vintage bicycle were my favorite to paint. I hope the voters like it, but it was just enjoyable to work on. As I mentioned in a previous post, I got to travel to France when I graduated from high school. My big sister took me! (In fact, I picked her brain during the brainstorming portion of this design.) I cherish the memories of experiencing the world with her. I think we need to do it again someday. Here’s a few ancient pics for nostalgia’s sake.
We spent most of our time in the city…
But we stayed with my sister’s childhood friend in the little town of Le Pecq, west of Paris, so we got to ride the metro to and from there each day.
