Painting Autumn
This week’s challenge required that we use a specific color palette, specified by a pottery company (East Fork) with whom Spoonflower partners. You can read more about them here if you like. These colors reflect their new autumn line. The challenge was to create a pattern that would look lovely on table linens next to East Fork’s Autumn pottery. East Fork themselves will have a say in who wins this week, so I hope they like my fall leaves swirling about.
I often use reference images, but this week’s design came entirely out of my mind. I just start drawing, and it flowed. This is not usually how designing works for me. There are usually many false starts and redesigns. Here is a Timelapse vid of how the creation process went…
